Clever floor plan with a gutsy tiling scheme

This ensuite was redesigned to incorporate a walk in shower. Built in the 50’s and extensively renovated in the 90’s did not have a design that flow so well. A spa that was not used dominated part of the space. The client wanted a clever floor plan with a gutsier tiling scheme with double shower.
Design Solution
Allowed more space needed to set it off to advantage. Moved the spa to the family bathroom where it would be put to better use and free up the ensuite. The bidet, which was under utilised, was removed to gain more space. A glass brick window was changed to a translucent glass to achieve a cleaner look which was more in keeping with the modern interior of the house. The main bedroom was open to the ensuite and so it was important that the ensuite was designed with a suitable focal point to take advantage of this.
A double basin with cabinets was run across the doorway. The mirror above the vanity reflected an artistic niche in one wall of the ensuite as well as paintings in the bedroom and the pool outside. A T style configuration hid a double walk-in shower to the left and toilet and storage cupboard to the right. Feature tiles were placed, a strip vertically through the vanity area. In the shower area, we ran the floor tiles up onto one wall and again used a feature tile vertically which acted as delineation between the double showers. An impact was achieved while maintaining a colour scheme that married through from the bedroom to the bathroom.
